Maxair at Cedar Point

Cedar Point Amusement Park May 24, 2006. Park Atmosphere clips of video taken in the park during light crowds in May. Raptor and Wicked Twister roller coasters and Maxair in operation. Also includes brief shots of Aquatic Stadium facade, Giant Wheel, Kiddie Kingdom, Midway Games, Troika and the Space Spiral’s tower. Wide angle lens.

Cedar Point took guests to new heights in 2005 with the introduction of maXair. Riders on this ultimate thrill ride sit in outward-facing suspended seats that form a giant circle of 50 passengers; their legs dangle freely, and each seat has an individual shoulder restraint and restraining belt. maXair swings riders back and forth in a seemingly out-of-control pendulum motion while rotating counterclockwise. At the peak of the pendulum movement that reaches a maximum speed of 70 mph, riders are upside down 140 feet above the ground and experience ‘airtime’ ‘ that coveted feeling of weightlessness that is popular for thrill-seekers on roller coasters. The dynamic return drop generates a variety of sensations on riders depending on their specific position in the counterclockwise rotation, creating a different ride experience each time.
In its first season, maXair gave 842,796 thrilling rides. maXair is located just off Cedar Point’s Main Midway near Kiddy Kingdom and Space Spiral. Guests must be at least 52 inches tall to ride maXair.

This new ride design gives a sustained sense of weightlessness. Though the ride slowly spins. It is not a ride that has proven to cause people to get sick so it has become a success over the last couple years.
